Visual Arts Project

Catapult Foundation derived an innovative way forward in terms of programming to support the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) and learners from the Overstrand to achieve better learning outcomes.  Our community-based approach incorporated health, social welfare and education to focus programme efforts on the whole child…

The approach placed schoolteachers in an oversight and moderation role with Catapult bridging the gap between the WCED curriculum and work sent home during the nationwide lockdown.  The Visual Arts Programme was incorporated into the curriculum which WCED has shared and made available for dissemination and use. In our contemporary society, the visual arts and dependence upon visual imagery are essential in communicating and understanding the information we need to live our lives… Such an education enables people to become informed citizens, critical thinkers, creative problem solvers and productive members of society.
